EU's future:Prague to send capitals questionnaire on reforms

An initiative of the rotating presidency by the end of summer

26 July, 16:34
(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUL 26 - The Czech Republic, which currently holds the rotating European Union presidency, is working on a questionnaire intended for the governments of all member states to assess if they want to continue on the path of reform opened with the conclusions of the Future of Europe Conference. That is what sources inside the presidency told ANSA.

The presidency aims to pick up the reform baton in the relay launched by the experiment in participatory democracy wanted by the EU institutions. Therefore, the questionnaire will deepen the view of each capital on the possible treaty changes needed to implement the reforms, such as overcoming unanimity in foreign policy or the creation of a common European defense, indicated by lawmakers and citizens. According to the presidency, the questionnaire will be distributed to the delegations of member states over the summer to follow up on the discussion already opened at the informal General Affairs Council meeting on July 15.
