Brexit: S.Savino (FI), EBRD should be moved to Trieste

18 September, 15:53
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 18 SET - Forza Italia wants the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), now in London, to be moved to Friuli Venezia Giulia after Brexit, in particular to Trieste. To achieve this goal, the party is ready to take numerous political initiatives.

MP and FI coordinator in Fvg Sandra Savino, two local councilors, Giuseppe Nicoli, FI group leader in the Regional Council, and Alberto Polacco, group leader in the municipal council in Trieste, announced during a press conference.

Savino specified that "Forza Italia has been dealing with this idea since 2016 when I presented a question. On April 13, the possibility of candidacy for the presidency of the EBRD expired, and Minister Gualtieri had proposed as a candidate the former economy minister Padoan. A "challenge" with Poland is probable." MP underlined that "the employees of the EBRD are 3,000". What is on the table of the ad hoc working group within the Council of Europe will be decisive. "We will have to choose what to aim for: presidency or seat." (ANSA).
