Bulgaria: cabinet crisis,Vassilev nominated to be the new PM
Petkov withdraws his candidacy. Toward a new coalition
01 July, 15:12 (ANSA) - SOFIA, JUL 1 - In Bulgaria, resigning premier Kiril
Petkov has withdrawn his candidacy for a possible second term in
the current Sofia parliament.
His party 'Let's Continue Change' (PP) is the most prominent political force in parliament, and his coalition government did not pass a no-confidence vote on June 22.
"I proposed the PP to appoint as the next premier of Bulgaria Assen Vassilev, a person I trust unconditionally," Petkov said in a video statement. Vassilev, the outgoing deputy premier, and the finance minister will likely receive the mandate this afternoon from President Rumen Radev. (ANSA).
