(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 10 - The Uffizi on Tuesday hiked its
high-season ticket prices from 20 to 25 euros with the iconic
Florentine art gallery saying it needed to keep pace with higher
energy and building bills.
The new price comes into effect on March 1 and will be valid for
the whole of the high season which lasts until the end of
November.
These single-visit tickets are mostly bought by foreign
tourists, said the Uffizi management.
However, an early morning discount will mean that those entering
the famed Florence museums between eight fifteen and eight
fifty-five a.m. will only pay 19 euros, the management said.
Low-season ticket prices are unchanged at 15 euros.
Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano justified the hike saying
"it's right to move in step with European standards". (ANSA).
